Ostomy surgery is a life-saving procedure that allows bodily waste to pass through a surgically created stoma on the abdomen into a prosthetic known as a ‘pouch’ or ‘ostomy bag’ on the outside of the body or an internal surgically created pouch for continent diversion surgeries. An ostomy may be necessary due to birth defects, cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis, incontinence and many other medical conditions. They are also necessary in cases of severe abdominal or pelvic trauma resulting from accidents or from injuries sustained during military service.
Ostomy or continent diversion surgery can occur at any age and does not lower life expectancy but is the start of a “new normal” life.

The surgically created opening of the colon (large intestine) which results in a stoma. A colostomy is created when a portion of the colon or the rectum is removed and the remaining colon is brought to the abdominal wall. It may further be defined by the portion of the colon involved and/or its permanence.

A surgically created opening from the ileum, the lowest part of the small intestine. The intestine is brought through the abdominal wall to form a stoma. Ileostomies may be temporary or permanent, and may involve removal of all or part of the colon.

User Guide for One Piece Ostomy Bag

1. Clear the skin around the stoma with tepid water or saline.
2. Cut the hole on skin barrier according to actual stoma size and shape.
3. Put the gauze on stoma to prevent the exudates from outflow during sticking of skin barrier.
4. Open the clamp.
5. Close the ostomy bag with the clamp.
6. Peel off the release paper.
7. Let some air into the bag in case of layers of the ostomy bag sticking together.
Put the skin barrier on the stoma area and press it from bottom up to make it completely conglutinate with the skin.
8. Open the end of the ostomy bag and make the excrement out into the toilet. Clean and dry the bag for next use.
9. When taking off the skin barrier, press the skin with one hand and remove the skin barrier by the other hand gently.
If it is difficult, put some tepid water on for minutes and then remove the skin barrier.
Caution

It is used for patients with stoma problem.
Skin barrier can be used for 5 to 7 days usually, adhesive ability will be affected by continuous use.
If the big is full of air, a small hole can be made on the bag and it is suggested to use carbon active filter.
Ostomy bag can not be recycled.
Ostomy bag can not be thrown directly into toilet or cloaca, and should not be discarded at will. Please pay attention to the enviroment protection.
Patients allergenic to adhesive should use it with caution.
