Manuka Honey Gauze Dressing

Manuka honey dressing has long been available as a non-antibiotic treatment in the management of chronic wound infections. The dressing helps to prepare the wound bed and promote an optimal healing environment by reducing edema, lowering wound pH, and promoting autolytic debridement of slough and eschar.

Manuka honey dressing is pure honey with no additives which could cause an adverse reaction.

Instruction of Manuka Honey Dressing

• Clean the wound and the surroundings with saline. 
• Dry skin around the wound. 
• Place Honey gauze dressing directly onto the wound, with either side facing down. 
• For larger wounds, multiple dressings can be placed side by side, while for smaller wounds, this honey dressing may be cut to size with clean, sharp scissors. 
• Honey gauze dressing may be unfolded to cover larger wounds, but because this reduces the concentra- tion of the honey, this also reduces the efficiency of the product.
• Cover Honey gauze dressing with a second dressing of your choice. 
• Honey gauze dressing may be changed daily, or left in place for up to seven days, but for maximum effectiveness, it should be changed when the dressing color change.

*Honey dressings can also be used under multilayer compression bandaging. They usually need to be changed twice a week, particularly in the early stages of treatment until exudate levels have decreased, but daily changes may be necessary if there is heavy exudation.

Cautious:

A known allergy to honey or bee venom. Honey gauze dressing contains glucose, although it is considered safe for use by diabetics. However, it is advisable to closely monitor blood sugar levels during use.
