Silicone contact layer

Silicone contact layer is a silicone wound dressing that adheres gently to intact skin. The porous mesh design allows wound exudate to pass through to absorbent dressing materials. Helps reduce pain and risk of damage to the wound. Once applied, it can remain in place for up to 14 days, protecting the wound. Wound fluid (exudate) can easily pass through the perforations.

Silicone Wound Contact Layer Dressing  is shown to be more extensible, therefore making it more conformable and subsequently easier to apply to difficult areas to dress.

Advantages:

• Prevents the dressings from sticking to the wound, minimal epidermal stripping;
• Atraumatic dressing change;
• Allows passage of exudate through the dressing to a secondary dressing;
• Either side can face the wound;
• Can remain in place and provide protection for up to 14 days, as the secondary dressing can be changed without damaging the Askina® SilNet Plus wound contact layer;
• Suitable for use under compression bandage;
• Conjunction with Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT);

Indications:

Silicone contact layer wound dressing is a two-side silicone contact layer that can provide gentle protection for the wound through the Silicone Soft Technology. It also has the conformability a contact layer needs to adhere to any irregular wound. The silicone layer is perforated to give the wound the room for exudate to perforate vertically into any secondary dressing of your choice. Use as a protective barrier between wound and outer dressing for a variety of wounds, including:

• Venous ulcers;
• Arterial ulcers;
• Diabetic ulcers;
• Malignant wound;
• Cavity wounds;
• Donor sites;
• Superficial and partial thickness burns;
• Abrasions and lacerations;
• Post surgical wounds;

Silicone contact layer is available in a variety of sizes and can be cut to shape and size to meet even your most demanding wound care needs. The transparent open mesh design has been optimised to facilitate fluid management, allowing for effective exudate removal and topical treatment application as well as wound inspection.
